By Gaël Nevoux It is nearly winter and the mountains are all covered by their white mantle of snow. From the Pyrenees to the Sierra Nevada, the Spanish ski resorts are one of the first European tourist destinations in winter for skiing or snowboarding. Indeed, Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe and with 36 ski resorts located throughout the territory of the Iberian Peninsula, the winter sports is predominant.
Spain is indeed ideal for skiing and many are the reasons. The snow is good, hours of sunshine are long in winter, the facilities are first class and many specialized instructors are available to those who start. In addition, a wide range of activities is offered to tourists wishing to go to winter sports in Spain. We just have to put on the skis and to explore the Spanish ski resorts.
In the north, the Pyrenees form a natural barrier between France and Spain for about 430 km. The climax, the peak Aneto lies at 3404 meters. The conditions are favorable for the installation of many ski resorts. However, some are more to recommend the brand they have "Q" of Spanish Tourism Quality, quality label granted to establishments which meet the quality standards required.
In the Catalan Pyrenees, remember those of Baqueira Beret and Boí Taüll Resort located in the province of Lleida and La Molina or Vall de Núria in the province of Girona.
Farther west, in the autonomous community of Aragon, you can slide down the slopes of Candanchu, Cerler, Astun, Panticosa and Formigal, all located in the province of Huesca or Javalambre Valdelinares and in the province of Teruel.
Apart from the Pyrenees, which represent the most extensive in Spain, a few stations north of the peninsula, more family because of their tranquility, may be named here. This applies, for example, Valdezcaray in the community of La Rioja (this region is especially known for its wine) or those of the Cantabrian Mountains in the provinces of Cantabria, Asturias, Leon and Ourense.
At the center of the country, the Cordillera Central offers 4 ski resorts in the outskirts of Madrid, Salamanca and Segovia. A good reason for a holiday sports and culture.
Finally, in southern Spain, Sierra Nevada is the southernmost station in Europe. Within walking distance of Granada, the station holds the label "Q" for quality, also has a circuit-country skiing, a snow-park with half pipe and a recreational area for non-skiers . The weekend of dog sledding and night skiing excursions are also organized.
The range of Spanish resorts for winter sports is very broad. Equipped with magnificent infrastructure, with ski slopes, lifts and trails suitable for all skiers, many of these stations are ideal for beginners and experts await your visit.
There is therefore no time to lose, book your stay and enjoy your holiday in Spain! |
